Moroy

Next stop with Victor Hugo was Moroy.

There are plenty of photos of this site floating around, but you don't get a sense of how big it is.

First, though, we had to drive across the valley and see some more of these views:

And then you come to this:

Can you see the people down there? Yes, those little spots are people

The speculation is that this was an agricultural experimentation station. The different levels were used to test different crop types (mainly potatoes and corn) at different elevations. There are plenty of microclimates here, and each microclimate had its own potato and corn variety. Amazing stuff.

We spotted this plant along the way. We have a friend (Randy Twaddle) who makes art out of silhouettes of power lines and such, and thought he would enjoy it.

We headed off to the salt pans, and you could see Inca terraces almost no matter where you looked.
